I intentionally waited a year to write this review. I wanted to make sure the installed system performed well through all 4 seasons. The system is very effective and working as well as the day it was put in.

From start to finish, Joe did an outstanding job. During the procurement process he was the only contractor that proposed multiple solutions to a water drainage issue. Other contractors just wanted to dump more dirt which wasn’t an option due to property line concerns. For each proposed solution, he provided costs, effectiveness of the solution, and required maintenance, if any. He was the only contractor that communicated regularly and when he said he would. The materials, equipment, and workmanship Joe delivered were all excellent. A neighbor commented on the excellent quality of the pipes used in comparison to ones used on their similar job with a different contractor. The cost was very reasonable for the quality of the system and work performed. The project was done on time, on budget and with appropriate clean up and grass planting. I strongly recommend JNR.

Due to poor drainage in our backyard, we needed to hire an excavating contractor. We hired JNR construction, and have no regrets. Joe installed a 3′ wide drainage trench across the backyard. He leveled everything, and then seeded the section, covering same with straw. He always conducted himself in a professional manner, and always returned our calls. Five stars!!

Our backyard used to be woods. We needed some big trees cleared and the backyard smoothed out for our kids to play. I called landscapers with my ideas and they said it was too cost prohibitive. So, I decided to talk to an excavator. I did some research on local excavating companies and came across JNR. I was impressed with his web site and reviews. I called Joe and he got right back to me to do a site visit the next day. His bid came back very affordable, and we actually had money left over to make a nearly flat yard (just enough grade for drainage) with a terrific retaining wall. The wall is curved and looks very professionally done. Joe also seeded and mulched and within weeks I was mowing our new yard. A few months have passed, and there has been no erosion and the wall is still perfect. Joe was terrific to work with and we highly recommend him for any excavation project.

I have been dealing with contractors for over 10 years and I took this unprecedented step of writing a recommendation for Joe because I believe that exceptional work and integrity should be recognized. I had a pond reshaped, a retaining wall installed and a yard regraded and I am very pleased with the final product which Joe delivered. I am impressed with his work and knowledge as an excavator. In a world where shoddy work and poor service are unfortunately all too common, Joe is indeed a rare find. Joe was flexible, effective and easy going in dealing with a continuously evolving project as I was always wanting to expand the scope. He was responsive to any wants or concerns I had. Joe’s commitment to homeowner satisfaction was evident in his actions. He kept me closely informed of work schedules, delivery dates, and projected completion dates of different phases of the project. The site was left very clean and all waste materials removed. We struggled for years with an extremely wet backyard. In several places, a small pond had developed that was even home to a family of frogs. Our yard, although a good size, was completely unusable for us and our children. Attempts to correct the drainage issues were never successful until we hired JNR Construction. Joe carefully assessed the issues and found a workable solution that was cost effective and successfully removed water from our yard. Even with the high volume of rain we have had this spring, the yard has successfully drained. Joe and his staff were responsive and helpful every step of the way. We could not be happier.
